Children of Destiny is home to 24 orphans, ages 4-16 in Moshi, Tanzania. Happyness, Skylar's pen pal, is among them; she and her two sisters lost their parents to AIDS.

When Skylar was very little, she was keenly interested in the plight of homeless people. At her request, we hosted her first (quasi) annual fundraiser. She thought, if each person gives $2 or $3, we could make some real difference. And so we did. The following year, we did it again, with a particular emphasis on LGBTQ homeless youth. We visited a center who specialized in helping LGBTQ youth in Los Angeles and learned a lot.
This year, Skylar;s focus has shifted to her pen pal, Happyness, who--along with her sisters Witness and Nancy, lost their parents to AIDS and are living at Children of Destiny under the great care of Margaret Mponda.
The orphanage has recently lost their government funding and is facing real crisis.
Skylar hopes that you will join us to celebrate the strength of our community and help another community in need. We hope you can join us, but if you can't, please give something towards the cause.
Thank you so much,
Skylar's whole family
