Update #88

This has been an eventful year. I want to personally thank everyone for donating and supporting Sophia's cause while she fought to live. I pray that everyone will carry her legacy of God's love forward. This page is now closing.

More Info

Sophia was born on 07/02/14. She was beautiful!  Medicaid  and the doctors denied the reevaluation of her case. She was  given a death sentence by man, but our LORD JESUS is the GREAT physician and HE took away her pain.

The journey is complete. The legacy she leaves us is to continue to pray, love GOD, and love each other as part of God's family.

Update #87

In 8 days this site will close. Sophia's journey is complete. She is sleeping, waiting for the day Jesus come to get all of us. I miss her her terribly. I thought I was prepared for her to go, but I wasn't. I kept hoping til the very end.

Some days are harder than others. Today, we went to Dallas to pick up Chasity's memorial hand print necklace. Inside, I was crying the entire way there. I know that Dallas is not the reason for her death. I know this consciously, but underneath my heart screams for her loss. I have no idea when this will get easier. I just have to take it one day at a time.

I appreciate everyone who donated and supported us throughout Sophia's journey. Please, hug your babies close and treat them as a special treasure from God. You never know what the next moment will bring.

Update #86

Johnathan . had the ultrasound done this morning, and his liver is very swollen. I am requesting continued prayers. I do not know what exactly is going on, but I do know that God hears our prayers, and the prayers of the righteous will be answered.
Since we lost Sophia due to complications arising from her liver failure. I would just appreciate all the prayers I can get. Sophia's fundly has reached so many people, I know that all of you will be praying for my 13 year old grandson also.

Update #84

This was written by Sophia;s Father: The measure of a life isn't in the amount of time you have but in the amount of lives you touched. Even then it isn't so much about the number of people but the quality of the transaction. I know of at least 3 people who turned their life over to God through Sophia's life and thousands who came closer to him. So when you walk around and influence other lives ask your self what is the quality of this transaction?

The family is still recovering from Sophia's journey. If you feel led to donate, this site will be up until December 31st. Thank you.
Christmas is right around the corner and the reason for this season is Jesus' birth. I hope and pray that you will take time to acknowledge and honor Jesus and the sacrifice HE made for us.

Update #83

At times, I just want to unplug and shut facebook off. I pray and pray and another baby is gone.......then I remember, our battle is to shed light on the life-killing mistakes made, when they could have been prevented! Yes, I am angry...I truly believe there needs to be a change in how these smaller hospitals treat babies, who come to them in an emergency. I believe that any emergency, where a baby is concerned, should be treated as life-threatening...not let them languor, so it is too late and the damage is irreversibly done. Please share! I don't have all the answers, but maybe it starts with us demanding some kind of protocol or policy change be made for these smaller hospitals. In Sophia and Jaina's memory, it is time to make a stand and demand change!!!!!!

Update #82

Gabriel has a double ear infection. He is running a fever and just all around uncomfortably fussy. This ear infection means he will be getting tubes very soon. He went to the eye doctor yesterday and they say his near eyesight has gotten stronger, but the farsightedness is a little weaker. The nystagma is about the same. He will be getting new glasses next week.
Every time Gabriel runs a fever it scare me. I don;t want HLH to show up in him. I know they told us, Sophia's HLH wasn't genetic, but it came back. Please pray that the ear infection clears up quickly.

Update #81

This site, originally evolved to attempt to get the funds to help save Sophia's life. She is saved, sleeping, waiting for her family to come greet her and watch her grow up in a perfect environment.

The family is left to recover from the fight. They have expenses that need to be paid. I am going to leave this page up through December 31st, should anyone feel led to donate to help this family out in memory of Sophia.

Thanks to all who fought by our side for Princess Sophia. Her life was not in vain. Her legacy will carry on. I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to CBS 11, who aired Sophia's story and continued to air updates. Thank you Andrea, you are a special person in our hearts!

Update #80

Sophias family still needs help getting back on their feet. This journey has taken a toll on them financially. Their vehicle needs extensive work or to be replaced, and bills need to be caught up. Should you feel led to donate, know that it will help them immensely.
Gabriel, Sophia's 18 month old brother, will need new glasses. He has ocular Albanism with Nystagma. He has to have special glasses that are very expensive. He also will have to have a lot of medical assistance in the future, as this condition, not only affects his eyes. Gabriel also has to undergo testing to make sure he does not have the same heart condition, Sophia had.
Any donation will help this family recover and pay for remaining expenses from Sophia.

As we prepare to say our goodbyes to Sophia, I would like everyone to be in prayer for us. She touched so many people in her short time on this earth.

As I stated in my update yesterday, you may send flowers and cards to the Shreveport First Seventh Day Adventist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Should you feel led to donate, Gary and Chasity really need the help to pay for remaining medical and living expenses. We appreciate any and all donations.

At 12:48 central time. Sophia passed from this life while in the loving arms of her parents. She fought long and hard, but it was time for her to go. She has left us a legacy of pulling Christians together with a single-minded purpose of reaching out to God. Please keep her family in your prayers as they grieve for their daughter.
She is being cremated. There is a memorial planned for Black Friday, at 2 pm at the Shreveport First Seventh Day Adventist Church in Shreveport, La.. Should anyone want to send flowers or cards, the address can be found by Googling the church.

The parents have made their decision concerning Sophia's care. She was denied a liver transplant for the final time. She is past the stage of having another hospital or doctor look at her case. She is just too weak. I will keep updating this on a daily basis until Sophia passes, or is healed by God. Thank you to all who have prayed, supported and donated. We still need help to cover all associated costs, since this has devastated the family financially.

The picture is when she was doing a little better. I would like for everyone to only have the best of her in their mind.

Early this morning, Sophia's picc line dislodged itself. They took her in and replaced it at 10:30. She lost a lot of blood, due to her own not clotting. Please pray she makes a speedy recovery and that the complete healing will begin.

Update on Baby Sophia dated 11/14/14. 7.00 pm. Again the family of Sophia has received devastating news. Even though thanks to your prayers and giving all Glory to God, Sophia has survived one near death crises after another for over 4 months the powers that be have come to the conclusion that a liver transplant for a child of her age and in her condition is to risky and experimental. We have a difficult time understanding their reasoning since the doctors have already said that her liver is dead and that she cannot survive without one. Is it about money ? Medicaid has already spent untold thousand for an over 4 months stay in the hospital. When does it reach a point where it becomes less expensive for them to take a chance with a transplant then it does for them to keep paying for her stay in the Hospital ? This is just not right. They are playing politics with the life of a helpless child. Please continue to pray with authority, declaring life over this precious baby. Give This Baby A Voice.
