Still recovering from hurricane Helen

This is kinda embarrassing for me, I normally try to figure things out on my own. But at the end of 2024 as everyone knows hurricane Helene hit. Bringing devastation to a lot of us. I was fortunate enough, not to have lost my home, but my pocket still felt the effect of the hurricane. Although this might not seem big to some is gigantic for me. I currently take care of my disabled father in Asheville, North Carolina. Since Helene and his mental and physical abilities have been on the decline. The stress of all of this is wearing him. As life is trying to get back to the norm, the realization of some of the things that we had to endure, sacrifice, and provide ways heavy on my mind and in my heart. My son was in the process of purchasing a car. The car was coming from another family member from Texas. The car was at our home location when hurricane Hilling hit and destroyed it. As a young adult, I teach him to take care of all of his business and paying his bills so as far as the insurance, it wasn’t added at this time. The car is still here in Asheville, North Carolina. The owner of the car can certify that all of this is true. So needless to say there is no insurance claim and FEMA denied him. My dad‘s power scooter needed to be charged during these three weeks we were without power and water. I was out of work for over a month, but I had to purchase the generator so he could have a mode of mobility. There are a lot of other things that I had to purchase during this time which all of that being said these purchases were made on a credit card. It is now stressing me out that I have so much debt on these cards now. My light bill is ridiculous for some reason for the past two months and all of the other bills that didn’t stop. I don’t get any kind of assistance because we “make too much money” but here in North Carolina right now my rent is $3,500 a month for a apartment. At this time, I’m trying to get my family into a house but in order to do so I need my debt to income ratio down. If there’s anyone who is able and willing to help pay these credit card bills down it would be truly a blessing. Everybody is willing to help people pay light bill water car, etc. and that is absolutely awesome. But people don’t think credit card bills are important, but I do. If it wasn’t for these cars when I was out of work and trying to survive Helene, I don’t know what would have been.
