Girls STEM Institute (GSI) in an informal learning program designed to provide holistic learning opportunities for girls of color who are historically marginalized in STEM fields. The goal of GSI is to improve the achievement, perceptions, confidence and overall wellness and well-being of girls and young women of color and their families. Within GSI’s rich, rigorous, relevant, and supportive context, girls and young women are provided access to powerful STEM learning experiences that challenge them to think deeply and critically, while allowing them the freedom to grow interpersonally and intellectually. GSI’s vision is to transform communities by empowering girls and young women of color to become leaders, innovators, and educators who use STEM as a tool for personal and social change.
