Taus for Paws, our brotherhood’s annual signature philanthropy event, will take place on Saturday April 11, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Madison Bowl, a University-owned field directly across from the Rotunda. During the event, shelter dogs are brought from the Charlottesville Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to promote awareness and support for the shelter’s cause. The event also includes carnival games, a live band, and food. All proceeds from the event will benefit the SPCA and their mission.
Philanthropy is a crucial part of our fraternity. In choosing a philanthropic group to support, we searched for a non-profit organization that matches our ideals and provides the local Charlottesville community with tangible effects. As a no-kill organization, the SPCA provides assistance to animals who are in need of a home or loving family without making the difficult decision to put them down due to space requirements. This challenging task necessitates many resources from the Charlottesville community, yet there is currently a lack of awareness and assistance for the organization. Taus for Paws seeks to encourage University members and the local community to contribute to the SPCA’s cause in any way possible.
