Dear Friends and Family,
Hi this Seth and I’m writing this to raise money for my trip to participate in Build-Vention in rural Greensboro Alabama in April. This trip is with my karate dojo. As a lot of you know, I have been doing karate since kindergarten and it is a huge deal in my life. The dojo is a 3rd home to me. I am working towards earning my black belt this year.
Another thing we do at the dojo on the way to getting our black belt, besides the martial arts training, is called “out of the dojo and into the world”. This means that we work on social justice projects and try to make a difference in the world.
Each year a group of students and our Sensei go to rural Alabama to participate in the 4 day Build-Vention program. We work with the community to build a home for someone who needs it and help make their community stronger. The money I want to raise will go towards buying tools and supplies to build the home. Another thing we are doing there is renovating a dojo. And then we will teach less fortunate kids some karate. I’m doing this because I believe that everyone deserves food, water, and shelter. And we are supplying the shelter part. Also, doing karate makes me feel good and I want to share that with other kids who might not know about it.
You can learn more about the program by watching the youtube video or clicking here - http://alabama.flavors.me
Every dollar helps, even a $10 donation will get us closer to the goal.
Thanks,
Seth
