In August, Kevin Miller was hospitalized (only a few rooms down from his mother who was also in the hospital) for the treatment of viral meningitis and fluid found on his brain. After months of suffering from chronic headaches and other symptoms, on August 25th, Kevin had surgery to remove the fluid on his brain and evaluate what steps to take next.
Kevin is a member of Covenant Church in Carrollton and strongly believes that this too shall pass and that soon, this experience will be another reason for him to proclaim the greatness of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Now, more than ever, Kevin and the Miller Family need to be shown the love of Christ; in prayer, encouragement, and in giving.
In the process of you deciding whether or not you should give something to this family, please consider this: Throughout the Book of Acts, it talks about the early church as the way that God intended it to be. Many times in these stories, we see the members of the body of Christ "distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need" and that "those who believed were of one heart and soul" (Acts 2:45 & Acts 4:32). In chapter 4 verse 43, it says that "there was not a needy person among them" because whenever a need arose, the people of God joined together in prayer and in giving to meet the need of their brother or sister.
Right now, the Miller Family needs their church; Covenant Church as well as the Universal Church of believers around the world. It's not a matter of "seeing if God is calling you to give" because He is. It says so in His Word. This giving may be in the form of money, prayer, or an encouraging word, but either way that we look at it, for those of us who are in Christ, it is our obligation to give something to members of the Body of Christ who are in need. In doing so, we show an example the love of Christ in us to the hurting and broken world around us.
