I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing with a heart full of both gratitude and need, hoping to find a compassionate ear to listen to the story of my family's recent hardship. Last September, our lives were shaken when my son was attacked by a dog while visiting a close family friend. What was meant to be a joyful gathering turned into a traumatic event that none of us could have anticipated.
In a panic, my wife and I rushed him to Abrazo Medical Center at Watson, where the incredible medical staff acted swiftly to treat his injuries. He underwent surgery to ensure that he could heal without further complications. At that moment, we were only focused on his recovery, on his life.
However, the relief of his survival soon gave way to a heavy financial burden. After the treatments and procedures were completed, we received a medical bill totaling $4,500, which our insurance unfortunately did not fully cover. Left with no alternative, we entered into an agreement with the hospital to pay the outstanding amount in monthly installments. While we are grateful for the care he received, this unforeseen expense has deeply destabilized our financial situation.
We have tried to stay strong as a family, but the truth is that this ongoing burden has caused significant hardship. The strain of juggling this debt with our everyday expenses has made it difficult to regain stability. We are reaching out to your esteemed organization, knowing the incredible work you do for families in need, hoping you might consider our request for assistance.
I understand that Samaritans Purse typically assists those facing chronic illnesses, but I humbly ask you to consider our situation, as we faced a life-or-death moment with our son. The physical and emotional toll of that day remains with us, and we are struggling to recover financially.
