In 2013 a lifelong friend, and seven-year Army medic, lost his battle with PTSD. Our friend enjoyed the outdoors found a great deal of peace in nature. However, like many veterans, he was not comfortable in a formal counseling setting. In the days that followed his death many conversations took place around the current types of help available for those suffering from PTSD, depression and anxiety and what could be done to fill the gaps. From this the idea of Warrior’s Ranch was born.
Warrior’s Ranch is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2016 to create a place where nature would be used as a healing tool to address the specific needs of our military veterans and children who have experienced PTSD, trauma or abuse. The Ranch addresses the physical, social, recreational, and emotional needs of our patrons through outdoor, equine and horticultural therapy. We are the only such facility in a 2.5 hour radius and have the documented demand present to expand our services to active military, families, and children with disabilities as our organization grows. We have a simple mission: to save lives, strengthen relationships, and brighten futures using nature as a tool. Through this we believe that a life-long appreciation for the natural world will be cultivated and healthier lifestyles will be formed.
