Virtual 5x5KGH

Join the KGH family by challenging yourself to walk or run five 5Ks between June 5th and July 26th.

The Virtual 5x5KGH is raising funds to provide a comfortable and supportive home away from home for patients and their families traveling to Buffalo for critical medical care. By participating and raising funds for Kevin Guest House, you are giving our guests a comfortable bed to sleep in, a warm meal to share, and compassion  through some of their most difficult moments.

Why June 5th to July 26th?

Our namesake and the inspiration behind Kevin Guest House, Kevin Garvey, was born on June 5, 1958. Kevin battled Leukemia and traveled from out of state to Roswell Park for his treatment. Unfortunately, Kevin passed away at the age of 13, but just 6 months after he passed away, the Garvey family opened Kevin Guest House on July 26, 1972 for families they met during Kevin's treatment who were sleeping in cars and hospital hallways while their loved ones received care.

Kevin inspired a national movement as Ameria's first independent healthcare hospitality house. There are hundres of similar homes across the world carrying out a similar mission, including our sister charities here in Buffalo: Ronald McDonald House, American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, and Grace Guest House.
