Wishes for Wendy

Wendy is one of our newest Heigl Hounds. She was found in a police raid in San Bernardino County and some of our rescue partners alerted us to her need. She is about 2 years old and weighs in at 30 pounds - though she should weigh about 50-60!

Once receiving her from the shelter, we took her straight to our vet, Dr. Stan Kunin at Veterinary Medical Center, to get a better overview on her condition. She has an open wound on her left front leg, which was obviously not taken care of when the original injury was inflicted. When she was taken to the vet to assess the wound, we also found out that she had a newly broken right front leg. Dr. Kunin said that she will need to have several small meals a day along with constant care for her wounds and broken leg. We will keep everyone posted regarding her recovery and look forward to seeing her put on weight.

It is our belief that Wendy was used as a bait dog because of the badly healed cuts and sores that cover her body and legs. This has not affected Wendy or her attitude. She's still in great spirits and loves people. She's just looking for love and attention and we at the JDHF, want her to know that she will be taken care of and given a forever home.

Your Donation

About The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation was founded in 2008, by Nancy and Katherine Heigl. The Heigl's desire to end cruelty and abuse inspired them to create an organization dedicated to animal welfare that would celebrate the compassion, kindness and memory of a beloved son and brother. On September 23rd 1986, Jason was killed in a tragic car accident. He was 15 years old. Throughout his brief lifetime Jason loved all animals, especially dogs, cats and monkeys and he lived his life extending compassion and kindness to all creatures great and small. The Foundation is his legacy.

The goal of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation is to eliminate the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference and ignorance. To find out more about our work, programs and the animals we help please visit our web site at jasonheiglfoundation.org.
