"I’m fascinated with Computer Science and Engineering. I spend every day after school looking up news about upcoming technologies like optical processors and quantum processors. I want to be a part of that world. I want to be the person making and talking about new technologies".----Josh Strozzi, SHS class of 2016

"I’m not done learning. I want to go to college and I hope to discover there what my path will be. Right now I’m interested in Music Therapy because it would combine my passions of Music and helping others."

"I’m interested in Marine Biology since I’ve grown up here on the West Coast. The ocean interests me because it seems to be the next great frontier like space. I hope to spend my life researching and to continue a life of learning."---Cosma Davis

Do twice the good with one donation.
We have exciting news about the Centennial Scholarship campaign! In our venture to establish a new scholarship celebrating 100 years of students graduating from Seaside High School, a generous local citizen has offered to contribute up to $5000 if we can match it. The money acquired between April 1, 2016 and June 1, 2016 for the Centennial Scholarship will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5000. This Scholarship is being set up to aid graduates this year and into the future. With your donation to this matching offer you will be helping Seaside High students harness their dreams and transform them to reality.
Please help us enrich the Centennial Scholarship by $5000 with your contribution! All donations are tax deductible.

My name is Carlie Gilligan and I graduated from Seaside High School in 2011. Upon graduating I was eager to pack up my diploma, local scholarships, and incredible memories and head to the University of California, Santa Cruz to study Marine Biology. I chose to leave the state of Oregon because my adventurous spirit was itching for an exciting change, but this decision came with the financial burden of out-of-state tuition.
Fortunately I was awarded several local scholarships that directly impacted my freshman year of college, and better eased the transformation into the “real world” of payments and financial responsibility. Not only was the money from local scholarships beneficial, but the community support that is seen through these scholarships outweighs any dollar amount. The motivation that stems from such a thoughtful network is what inspired me to make the decision to completely transform my life after two years at UCSC and join the US Coast Guard via the US Coast Guard Academy. By accepting my appointment to attend the academy I forfeited any financial aid that I was receiving, but am still incredibly grateful for the encouragement and funding that was given to me after graduation.
Had I not received local scholarships I might not have been able to have my initial college experience, and ultimately might have not gotten the opportunity to attend the Coast Guard Academy. I am currently a junior, studying Marine and Environmental Sciences, and am looking forward to the opportunity to serve as a Coast Guard officer upon graduating in 2017. Further down the road I plan on attending graduate school to further my education in Oceanography, and build a career that fuels my passion for marine science and allows me to give back to the little coastal community that I will always call home.

Because of the scholarships available to our students, we can support a student like Kevin Lewis, Class of 2006. Kevin graduated high school and was able to go to the Diver’s Institute of Technology in Seattle, Washington. He has worked as a commercial diver the past nine years and has been to Mexico, Nigeria, the Bahamas, Cameroon, Singapore, and Malaysia. Most recently he has traveled to Scotland to make a 336 ft. dive to earn his saturation diver’s certification. We are proud to know that we played a part in providing Kevin with the opportunity to pursue his dream.
